Plot vs. Theme…
Listening to the story of Hatchet today from our read
aloud. We listened to answer the following question as we read a chapter: What happens?
And then we compared to the question: What is your idea about what's
happening?
The plot "carries" the big
ideas but it is made up of events that you can track. Themes are not stated but come from your own thoughts.
Observations & Reflections
After going outside to take photographs of nature,
students were asked to think observe and reflect on one of their group
photographs. First, they needed to observe their photograph and thinking about
colour, size, shapes, lines, etc. Then it is important to reflect on the
photograph on a more personal level.
Students also had some time to draw an eye according to the rule of thirds.
The cut off for Polar Express tickets is today. All forms should be returned.
