Valentine's Day
We've discussed the option of handing out valentine cards today. Seeing as we are a very large pod we are suggesting students who wish to participate can bring cards for just the students in their "homeroom". That would limit the number to 22-23 per teacher. We will post first names of students soon. We will hand out cards on February 13th.
Exploring Area and Multiplication
Students explored the connection between area and multiplication as they designed a room for their pet rock using lego. Students had to figure out the array represented by the lego pieces they chose to use and write the corresponding multiplication sentence.
Properties of Rocks
We continued to run experiments and research the properties of rocks and minerals today in small groups. We are learning about colour, lustre, hardness, texture, the presence of carbonates, crystal shapes of minerals and the overall pattern of rocks.
