Jacket
Racket Project 2018
The Grade 4 Peace Ambassadors are
running the annual Jacket Racket Project this year. They will run the
collection of clothing items until Friday November 2.
We are looking for 1-2 parent volunteers
to come in fist thing in the morning for during that time to assist the
students with sorting and bagging the collected items. One group of students will collect
the items from classrooms and the other group will help sort the items with the
parent volunteer. There
will be sorting bins, bags and labels set up in the hub and parent volunteers
can expect to be there from about 8:30 to 9 AM. If you can help us out, please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d44afab28abf94-jacket1
Volunteers must have completed
their police security checks and have their security clearance.
Thank you for volunteering your
time!
Working on Writing
We looked at how to
"hook" the reader and begin our story writing in exciting ways.
Students learned about using an action, dialogue, a thought or question, or a
sound to start a story with. They also were given a picture prompt to write a
story about.
Ignite Brainstorming
So that we are challenged with
new experiences during our daily ignite time, students were asked to brainstorm
what they have learned during this time in the morning. This provided us with a
lot of ideas to create challenges with in the future. Take a look at our blog
during the week to see what some of our challenges are.
Math
Students were given a problem to
solve in math today. Each student was allocated a budget to purchase items from
a list. Place value concepts as well as adding and subtracting with regrouping
were introduced and/or reinforced.
P.E.
We enjoyed beautiful weather outside for P.E. today. We practiced running relays, handoffs and throwing and catching with a football.
