Updates…
It is Halloween tomorrow!
Students are welcome to wear costumes to school tomorrow if they would like. We are asking that masks and costume accessories stay at home so that they do not get lost or impede with the day's activities. Please leave candies and treats at home.
Jacket Racket Project 2018
The Grade 4 Peace Ambassadors are running the annual Jacket Racket Project this year. They will run the collection of clothing items until Friday November 2.
We are looking for 1-2 parent volunteers to come in fist thing in the morning for during that time to assist the students with sorting and bagging the collected items. One group of students will collect the items from classrooms and the other group will help sort the items with the parent volunteer. There will be sorting bins, bags and labels set up in the hub and parent volunteers can expect to be there from about 8:30 to 9 AM.  If you can help us out, please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d44afab28abf94-jacket1
Volunteers must have completed their police security checks and have their security clearance.
Thank you for volunteering your time!

Coulee Walk
On Thusday, Nov. 1st the Peace Pod will be heading to the coulee in the afternoon. Please dress for the weather.

Structures
What is a structure? What do we hold materials together with? We discussed strategies for fastening materials and students will be challenged with building a small shelter using natural materials when we go out to the coulee on Thursday. Students had time to plan out a structure in their visual journals today. We looked at how animals build their homes in nature to help inspire us to come up with ideas for how we will be able to fasten materials in nature to build shelters.

Supporting each other's reading

During our literacy block today students read in small groups. While working together students help one another to figure out unknown words, discuss new vocabulary and understand what they are reading.
